Today (September 7) is Threatened Species Day, marking a sad and important day in our history – the death of the last Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger). Unfortunately, over 488 native species are still currently listed as threatened under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999, including our yarkiny/western swamp tortoise, which has one of the most dire statuses – Critically Endangered.
