On Friday 9 August, Camp Quality’s wesCarpade will hit the road in Carnamah on an eight-day road trip and finish in Swan Valley Saturday 17 August – all to raise money for kids and their families facing a devastating cancer diagnosis.
Now in its fourteenth year, wesCarpade is Western Australia’s favourite motoring adventure and has so far raised $156,000. Every year the event draws a dedicated group of car enthusiasts with around 25 vehicles taking to the roads in 2024 and is accompanied by Camp Quality’s Cancer Education Program educational puppet show.
wesCarpade participant and owner of Evedon Lakeside Retreat, Chris Jenour, has been a supporter of Camp Quality for 20 years, hosting Family Camps where families facing cancer can take a break from hospital and create positive memories that last a lifetime.
“A family friend came to one of Camp Quality’s Family Camps. I thought she was attending as a volunteer, but very quickly realised that her son was one of the Camp Quality kids. It was a heart-breaking moment. After a few deep and meaningful chats, I signed up for wesCarpade and eight years later, I’ve never looked back,” says Chris.
“Knowing what we do makes a difference to someone’s life makes it all worth it. You can go away feeling proud of yourself that you’ve done something that will change the life of someone you may never meet,” Chris says. Read Chris’ full story below.
Camp Quality CEO, Deborah Thomas, says: “It is inspiring to see so many new and returning participants to wesCarpade this year. By raising money for Camp Quality they are making a real difference, giving more families the chance to reconnect on our Family Getaways, kids the opportunity to just be kids on our Kids’ Camps, and families the opportunity to create new memories on our Family Fun Days. We are so grateful to every participant and supporter for giving up their time and so generously supporting our charity.”
wesCarpade will stop in towns along their route, so come down to your nearest pit stop to check out all the wacky themed cars and help raise funds for kids and families impacted by cancer.
