JDAP approves ‘roadhouse’ in town centre

JDAP has ignored council and residents’ objections and has approved plans for a 24/7 service station within Ellenbrook town centre. The meeting on the 25th of May was decided 3-2 in favour of the project, with all three Joint Development Assessment Panel members voting for, and the two City of Swan councillors voting against.

The application was subject to the usual public consultation period of 14 days, receiving a total of 136 submissions. Of those, 122 were objections and 14 were neutral/conditional support.

Key issues included school/residential proximity, social impacts and traffic issues.

The site, which comprises 2796m2 will include a 248m2 main building, four bowsers and 12 parking bays.

Pearce councillor Aaron Bowman who has been actively campaigning against the project said: “This is a disappointing outcome that our community did not want and the City of Swan Councillors did not support.”
